Fibres, Yarns & Fabric

Fibre = small hair-like structure - can be staple or continuous filament

Yarn = several fibres twisted together - These can be staple (made up of staple fibres) filament (made up of continuous fibres) or Core-spun (made up of continuous in the centre and staple on the outside)

Fabric = yarns that are woven or knitted to make a fabric. A non-woven fabric such as felting, thermo-bonding or needle-punching are made directly from fibres.
