Fibre Blends

Although individual fibres have their own properties, designers and manufacturers often want to create textile products that have the COMBINED properties of 2 or more fibre types.
E.g. wool is warm, but can be rough on the skin - by blending with angora, the new fabric can keep it's warmth, but the angora fibre will add softness, reducing the rough feel of wool alone.

When fibres are blended, equal, or different amounts of each fibre are selected and mixed with each other before a yarn is created. The loose fibres are then twisted and spun together to create a yarn with the combined properties of BOTH fibres.
